When it comes to beauty trends we at L’Onglex like to claim we get there first. Not content with bringing you hair washing robots, snakes that massage and naked cyclists the latest fad to hit our desk involves a can of cream and a mans razor.
As you’re surely reading this nonplussed we’ll spell it out – seems that shaving our faces is the latest trend to hit bathrooms in the states, and the celebrities are said to be lapping it up.
Kate Somerville, a facialist and celebrity beauty expert has recently lifted the lid on with claims that many A-listers are turning to the razor in an effort to say finito to facial fuzz while at the same time promote more youthful skin.
Much like your good self I’m sure when you saw this you might have done a double take, but it seems that much of our antipathy toward shaving, aside from it being an activity perceived as wholly male, is down to the idea that hair which is shaved grows backer thicker and stronger.
Yet as the thickness of hair on our bodies is determined by hormonal factors there is a raft of dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons queueing up to dispel female stubble as an old wives tale and many of us are trading the powder brush for a shaving one.
Rumours that many stars today are getting fond of the foam when it comes to their top lips refuse to go away. Apparently, shaving the face can also make a womans skin look younger since the act of shaving also exfoliates skin which helps increase production of collagen.
Whether this will catch on remains to be seen but since it seems to have been the preferred method for screen beauties like Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor we think there just might be something in this story yet !
