Christmas make-up … pink over orange ???

December 7th, 2010
Not sure if we should say this but we’re going to anyway. Just this afternoon L’Onglex got wind that Lisa Eldridges new Christmas looks video was now online.
Thinking we were getting a taste of the demur, refined and always elegant make-up styling that has become her hallmark we were shocked to discover this one contains green(ish) glitter, some cappuccino eye colouring and a dose of pink lip gloss applied over an orange lipstick …. uggghhh … thought we.
Having now watched the video from the comfort of bed and a hot water bottle we can absolutely, positively say the idea sounds terrible but the end result is divine.
Apart from loving the nail colour we are also wondering if the  amazing Lisa Eldridge will ever do a look that isn’t perfect ?

Having now watched the video from the comfort of a warm bed and an even warmer hot water bottle we can absolutely, positively, definitely say the idea sounds terrible but the end result is divine.

Apart from being completely overawed by her nail shade L’Onglex is also wondering if the amazing Lisa Eldridge will ever do a look that isn’t perfect ?

Nail quills from Illamasqua

November 19th, 2010

Every once in a while L’Onglex has the pleasure of discovering something weird and wonderful.

Of late we have found naked cycling, naked yoga, a snake massage and a robot from Japan that washes your hair for you. More often than not we’d never actually dream of having anything to do with these products and the weird and wonderful is for the most part a diversion …. until now.

Yup, just this very afternoon we came across these signature ‘nail quills’ designed by Mike Pocock for Illamasqua and we must say we’re quite impressed. Priced at around €40 and coming in individual box sets the nails are worn on the thumbs and although nails don’t really do anything anyway we are quite intrigued as to what they do and are currently questioning the wheres and whys of how you might use them.

At the moment L’Onglex has no idea what they’re made of or how long they last for but as pretty much everything that comes from Illamasqua is pretty much indestructible you can bet these limited edition matte black talons will be pretty well made.

Having thought they looked great, then plain weird, then great again we can’t seem to be able to make up our minds on whether we would actually hand over the money to buy a pair. If they are indeed quills and you can actually write with them we figure we might just grab a pair if only to really scare the bank manager next time we sign for a cheque.

Gatsby nails by Illamasqua

Ever as we are on the hunt for things to do with our paws, we have, of late, been following the folks over at Illamasqua with something approaching stalker like proportions.
Not content with bringing you news of the just launched polish collection we also happened to come across these video tips for Gatsby Nails ….  and yes, we had no idea thats what they we’re called either.
We probably don’t devote enough time to nail art on the L’Onglex blog for the simple reason that our hands are a bit shaky but we love this for two reasons ….
i) It’s quite elegant and not too fiddly …
ii) It doesn’t require anything by way of fancy kit !
The bit we really, really, really like though comes at the end, when we discover that if you fess it up you can tidy the curves with a bit of  accetone free nail polish remover. Who do we know round here that might have some of that ?

We probably don’t devote enough time to nail art on the L’Onglex blog for the simple reason that our hands are a bit shaky and we don’t have much in the way of patience. However, we make an exception for these two reasons ….

i- It’s quite elegant and not too fiddly …

ii- It doesn’t require anything by way of fancy kit and therefore can be done sneakily at your desk …

The bit we really, really, really like comes in at the end, when we discover to our delight that if you fess it up you can tidy the curves with a bit of  accetone free nail polish remover. Who do we know round here that might have some of that ?

Illamasqua launch three new shades!

April 14th, 2010
Oh how our heart leapt at the news of latest collection of divine nail goodies from Illamasqua.
The new Body Electrics collection hits beauty counters next month and  features three fab polishes. Force ( a deep blue ), Jo’Mina (a bright Lilac ) and prism ( luminous pearl ).
Seeing as we here are addicted to all matters nail related you can probably understand our extreme delight given that we also got wind of the Chanel polishes in more or less the same week.
At present we haven’t been able to get our hands on any of the shades yet but debate has centered around which one we think we might love best …. when we do actually get it. Will it be Prism for the versatility, Jo’mina for the spring brightness or Force for ……. well, you get the picture.
Since we really did spend too much in Body Shop this week we think this new game is a bit like virtual window shopping ….  you don’t even need the bus fare !
