A few weeks ago we brought you news of the Urban Decay Summer of Love Nail lacquar collection….oh how we oooed and how we aahhhed and we took pictures of the pretty case, and after it was all over we promised to take the colours we had and cherish and love them forever more. We also promised to swatch the rest of the collection over the coming weeks…..but sadly we got distracted.
We got distracted because newer, shinier products kept landing at L’Onglex Towers and despite our solemn vows the Summer of Love and all the things the collection once promised were simply words that floated on the wind. All was forgotten ….. until now !
Yesterday we re-discovered it nestled under our testing pile and the realisation dawned on us that we had forgotten to bring these colours to the blog and that L’Onglex had in fact been acting like a child with too many toys. Remembering our promise for a summer of love the crushing realisation that we had indeed been unfaithful to a nail polish colour hit us like a ton of bricks and we were out with the brightest of them as soon as we had a spare minute !
The shade above and to the left on the L’Onglex pinkies is indeed an acid pink that goes by the name of Woodstock. By way of asking for forgiveness we have vowed to wear this colour at CastlePalooza this weekend. L’Onglex is chastened !

As the weather outside L’Onglex towers has become a touch unpredictable we’ve been in search of something that might just bring some sunshine to an otherwise lifeless afternoon.
Normally you search high and low for such pleasures but it just so happened we spotted the bright yellow hues of Rimmel Sunshine and here for your amusement is the result.
Now, the pics don’t really show in great detail just how incredibly yellow this little pot of paint actually is and it did take two coats to get coverage but all in all we can’t be anything but happy at our new found radiance.
Another result to add to our treasure trove of colour experiments …. won’t be long before they give us some sort of honorary degree or some such accolade.

It’s all very well having ones pinkies decorously attired with subtle shading but from time to time it seems all our nails really need is a dose of the rouge !
The fist thing you’ll notice about our by now bright red nails is that this particularly bright shade of red which goes by the name of Loolypop is that it’s not particularly subtle. The second thing we’ll say about this shade is that somehow this rather bright bottle by Essie has been on the L’Onglex testing shelf since we started the blog some three or four months back.
How we missed this colour in the past is beyond our grasp but since we think it looks rather good we can console ourselves with the idea it’s better late than never. This we like !

Whilst we’re still enjoying summer the world of fashion doesn’t sit back. Last week we brought you news of OPI’s Swiss inspired nail trends for next season and now we bring you news from YSL who have just launched a couture nail collection called Rock & Baroque.
If you haven’t yet caught this there are eight polishes in the mix which are worn in colour combinations. Looking slightly like a like a french manicure the colours combine and each combination has been give it’s very own catchy name. Orange and fuchsia becomes Rive Gauche, turquoise and purple becomes Belle de Jour and Belle de Nuit consists of plum and gold.
As you would expect from YSL the colours are of course to die for but we at L’Onglex are having a slight bit of trouble with the name ! Yes, we understand the baroque bit … but what of the rock ? Given these are a bit expensive and quite high maintenance we can’t really see that there’s much by way of Rock ?
I mean, each to their own and all that but I don’t know of many self respecting rock chicks who would spend their weekends hanging out at the beauty counters of BT’s when they could be off swigging cheap vodka and performing lewd acts with moody looking frontmen from as of yet unsigned bands ?
Could be wrong here but so far yes to the nails and no to the name !

Grass is always greener
As you will well be aware L’Onglex’s collection of nail polishes grows ever more colourful as the weeks pass to months and since we started our mission to find every colour we can get from everyone we can think of has seen us come across the above colour by the folks at Rimmel.
Imaginatively entitled green grass we weren’t really sure when we saw the bottle but after a few dabs onto our otherwise dull paws saw us all nodding along in a chorus of gentle approval.
Where you would wear a shade so gregariously green is another matter for another day.

All we now need to know is where you can get away with wearing a shade so gregariously green but that may be a debate to save for another day.

L’onglex towers was alive with excitment this morning when we got our paws on one of the newest shades from Estee Lauder’s A/W collection which we have been informed will be hitting the beautysphere in August.
I know that AW10 nail polish is a bit premature and we could have waited and all of that but quite frankly we couldn’t wait to see what it looked like – such is our excitement for all things that add to the swatch collection nothing stays wrapped at L’Onglex for any longer than 3 seconds.
Gorgeous, glossy and in our humble opinion quite a good quality polish, we’ll be keeping the lid on the rest of the bottle until we know we can get hold of some more.
This one we like !

How to choose your team for the world cup !
Being as we at L’Onglex are quite observant when it comes to matters of sweaty men in shorts it hasn’t escaped our attentions that the World Cup is now in full swing. Naturally, we in these parts share the disappointment of Ireland not being in the tournament and like everyone else we are a bit stuck when it comes to deciding which team to adopt as our own.
Such was our predicament that we just couldn’t decide who to cheer for until some bright spark suggested putting all the shades of polish into a bag and the colour that we came out with would be the team we follow.
We can now say with some pride that our team for the world cup will be Argentina courtesy of Mint Candy Apple by Essie. Aside from the name the shade is a perfect light blue and despite my best efforts with the brush is more than a bit ‘Messi’.

Morning all !
As it’s been at least three days since we in these parts changed our nails we figure we’re long overdue a dab with the brush and would therefore like to present the above colour which comes to us courtesy of the good folks at Essie.
Yup, in our effort to try everything the latest addition to the L’Onglex swatch collection is a perfect summer shade that goes by the name of Mint Candy Apple.
Obviously we love the minty, greeny, bluey hues of this but probably just as impressive is the fact that for a light polish one coat does the trick. Into the big bag of L’Onglex colours this goes then.

Fresh from this summers OPI Hong Kong Collection we bring for your inspection Hot and Spicy, the latest colour to have us at L’Onglex wishing we were heading for more sunny climes.
As with all things OPI application is a synch and the colour isn’t too overpowering. Frankly, I’m not sure the these pics of my paws really do the colour any justice and it will really suit those of you who just so happen to be a tad more bronzed than I.
Since I spend my lunchtime salivating in the aisles of Body Shop and my evenings making homemade make-up I’m not sure I’ll be getting the Tan to go with this anytime soon.
We figure if OPI ever bring out a colour called ‘Pasty and Make-Up Obsessed’ it might be the one for us … we’re keeping our eyes peeled !

When it comes to polish we’re the addictive sort and once we got our gready paws on Lucky Lucky Lavender last week we decided to go on a mission to hunt down all things purple.
It didn’t take long and Rimmel provided our next plum inspired fix with the nobly named Perfect Plum.
As you can see from the swatch this one is quite a glossy shade of purple although my hearts tells me it’s more autumn than summer.
As with all addictions a new fix is never enough and we’re off hunting for the next shade – any suggestions?

Quite literally out of the blue look what we at L’Onglex got.
Having heard of our quest to try every shade of every colour someone must have let on to the folks at OPI that this summer we at L’Onglex are busily dipping our digits in anything that might resemble a to-die-for summer shade !
Part of OPI’s Hong Kong Collection for SS10, the above colour was achieved with two coats of luscious lavender and given we were running out of colours to try we must admit the donation to our cause was most fortunate. So fortunate in fact that from now on L’Onglex are calling this particular shade lucky lavender which will come as a welcome change from our lucky knickers …. don’t laugh … we’ve all got them.
