Scratch and sniff nails … we can’t wait !

November 10th, 2010
If there is one thing that L’Onglex loves more than nail polish it’s nail polish with a gimmick attached. Any gimmick will do really and thinking about the subject we’re not exactly fussy when it comes to which gimmicks we’ll spend our hard earned cents on.
That said, the latest nail polish collection from Revlon is something we’ve gotten quite excited about as not only do the above shades come in no less than eight glorious colours but they also have one particularly unique feature …. they’re all scented with their own unique flavour !
Currently going down a storm in the States the new Revlon summer shades come with their own unique scent and whilst we haven’t managed to get ourselves a whiff just yet we are assured that Peach Smoothie, Bubble Gum and Ocean Breeze smell divine.
As these haven’t yet launched in Ireland we were thinking what shades we might like for when they launch on these shores and having given the matter some considerable thought L’Onglex is very much hoping they do a chocolate cake version.
Quite what effect the smell of this will have on our diets is anyones guess but knowing our luck they’ll skip that flavour and bring out a Guinness version just for us – Roll on March 2011 !

Revlon goes retro !

October 27th, 2010
Any L’Onglex readers who so happened to be around in 1952 will be delighted to discover that Revlon have reworked and re-released their classic series of Fire and Ice lipsticks and nail shades.
Famous for being the first ever beauty advert featuring a model the new version of the old shades has been relaunched with Jessica Biel in the role originally played by Dorian Leigh.
Now as good as the new ad might be L’Onglex has to say that we actually think they should have just stayed with the original.
This is not because we think they’ve done a bad job or anything but because as well as having Dirian Leigh the original advert also featured one of the first question-cum-quiz-thingies to see if you were indeed a “Fire and Ice” sort of girl.
We won’t list them all but here’s a few of our favourites ….
Have you ever wanted to wear an ankle bracelet ?
Would you streak your hair platinum without consulting your husband ?
Do you love to look up at a man ?
When a recipe calls for one dash of bitters, do you think it’s better with two ?
Does gypsy music make you sad ?
Do you sometimes feel that other women resent you ?
Have you ever wished upon a new moon ?
Finally, L’Onglex’s favourite question of all …..
Do you secretly hope that the next man you meet will be a psychiatrist ?
Having now done the questionnaire L’Onglex can now say without a shadow of a doubt that we are a “Fire and Ice” sort of girl …. especially the bit about the psychiatrists.
Fire and Ice will be available exclusively at Boots from December 1st.

L’Onglex has a confession to make

August 4th, 2010
L’Onglex has a confession….
When it comes to nail polish we like to think we’re ahead of the pack so when news broke at L’Onglex HQ yesterday that Revelons Grey Suede has been one of this summers biggest polish hits we were left scratching our heads a little and wondering how we missed it.
Why hadn’t we heard of this muted beige shade before ? Had it simply passed us by, was there a conspiracy or were we just not looking hard enough ? To add insult to injury it has also emerged that we totally missed the fact that the polish has been picked up by none other than Ms Florence Welsh who was seen sporting the distinctly nudie nail shade at this years Brit Awards ceremony.
After much soul searching and lots of questions we finally came to the conclusion that the only way to rectify ourselves in the eyes of those who keep their eyes on these matters is to head to Boots quicksmart and pick up a bottle for the L’Onglex collection of colours we covet …..we will keep you posted !
