L’Onglex has been unfaithful

July 28th, 2010
A few weeks ago we brought you news of the Urban Decay Summer of Love Nail lacquar collection….oh how we oooed and how we aahhhed and we took pictures of the pretty case, and after it was all over we promised to take the colours we had and cherish and love them forever more. We also promised to swatch the rest of the collection over the coming weeks…..but sadly we got distracted.
We got distracted because newer, shinier products kept landing at L’Onglex Towers and despite our solemn vows the Summer of Love and all the things the collection once promised were simply words that floated on the wind. All was forgotten ….. until now !
Yesterday we re-discovered it nestled under our testing pile and the realisation dawned on us that we had forgotten to bring these colours to the blog and that L’Onglex had in fact been acting like a child with too many toys. Remembering our promise for a summer of love the crushing realisation that we had indeed been unfaithful to a nail polish colour hit us like a ton of bricks and we were out with the brightest of them as soon as we had a spare minute !
The shade above and to the left on the L’Onglex pinkies is indeed an acid pink that goes by the name of Woodstock. By way of asking for forgiveness we have vowed to wear this colour at CastlePalooza this weekend. L’Onglex is chastened !

It’s the summer of love!

As if we at L’Onglex haven’t been impressed enough of late with the folks over at Urban Decay we’ve recently come across the makeover video for their Summer of Love make-up collection.

Don’t let us be misunderstood, we do like the softer summer looks and we’re not bored with the whole nude and natural thing just yet, but we have been casting around of late for a look for going out and we quite like the possibilities – especially the baked shine lip-gloss.

The cutest nail polish ever ….. ever !

May 21st, 2010
As you know we are L’Onglex have a very unhealthy obsession with all things nail related. Such is our enthusiasm that when anything comes in through the door we either give shreiks of delight or a chorus of boos.
If you can add to our general obsession our infinite love of things dinky and cute then you can imagine our squeels of sheer pleasure when we received the above nail selection from none other than Urban Decay !
So cute, compact and all encompassing are the above colours that we simply had to take them out and put them on our nails this very instant. To say we love the above pack is an understatement and to say we adore the colours doesn’t do it justice.
The polish above is the aquarius which is beautifully bright with a hint of green but the pack also comes with six other shades which is just as well because at the rate we get through nail colours here at L’Onglex the 5ml won’t last us forever.
Perfect for holidays and at Urban Decay counters as we type !

Skittles manicure – not for the faint hearted !

May 18th, 2010
While we’re not usually partial to painting our nails all the colours of the rainbow we can’t deny that our latest experiment, the skittles manicure, might be a good dose of light relief for the summer months.
Three things that worry us about this;
i) Explaining why all your nails are a different colour might take some time ….
ii) The shockingly bright colours might be best left to students ….
iii) It takes ages and ages and ages
On the other hand, it’s bright, bubbly, and assuming you’re not at a wedding it’s not a bad conversation starter. More swatches coming soon !

Beauty reviews …. Urban Decay’s Sin Primer Potion

February 25th, 2010
Every once in a while a cult product emerges and we think Urban Decay may just have the next one covered.
The latest addition to the primer family, Sin Primer Potion promises to combine the staying power of a primer with a champagne shimmer eyeshadow.
I’ve had my hands on this little gizmo for a few weeks now and I have to say it’s a bit of a wonder product. I was always fond of the original primers but this one works really well on it’s own as a crease proof eyeshadow. Pretty neat if your short on time.
As a base under golds and browns it looks pretty gorgeous and for highlighter it does the trick perfectly. Simply dab a little on your the eye corners, a little on the cheeks and a soupcon on your brow bone and your good to go.

Alice through the looking glass

February 22nd, 2010

It seems not a week goes by without another designer collaboration hitting the shelves.

There was Jimmy Choo for H&M, Sonia Reykiel for H&M, Louise Goldin for top shop and just when you thought it couldn’t get any more collaborative in comes OPI with a series of themed nail colours for Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland.

The colours I’m not so sure about, but if you buy your polish on the strength of the names alone the eccentrically named Absolutely Alice, Mad as a Hatter, Off With Her Red and Thanks So Muchness should do you well enough. Certainly not for the feint hearted but should be fun enough when the time comes.

In the event OPI haven’t filled your penchant for all things Alice related Urban Decay have tipped a rather eccentric felt brimmed top hat in the direction of all things Wonderland with The Alice in Wonderland book of shadows. The 16 eyeshadow strong palate includes 16 of UD’s best selling eyeshadows renamed with topsy turvey names such as White Rabbit, Jabberwocky and Oraculum.

I’ll just stick to the looking glass.
