Pink lips for Spring

March 30th, 2011
<a href=”javascript:popUp(’http://vkm2.com/vid_master/sixty_three.html’)”>
Last week we brought you the powers of pastels peepers, this week we bring you the trend that is pink lips. OK, so to say we bring you this might be a bit of an overstatement since in fact the person responsible is none other than Lisa Eldridge.
If the catwalks of Chanel, Jil Sander & Diane Von Furstenberg are anything to go by then pink lips are set to be massive for the months ahead. As with everything lip related, wearing it well can be a bit tricky. Yes, bright pink can be a shocking yet fun twist on femininity, but it can also make you like Honolulu Barbie circa 1987, yes, soft pink can be great for letting those eyes become the centre of the room, but it can also blend into worthless make-up oblivion.
Since we’re still feeling our way around this for shades and tone we thought we’d just save ourselves the bother and let the fabulous Lisa Eldridge do the thinking for us……

PIXIWOO = Pastels for Spring
<a href=”javascript:popUp(’http://vkm2.com/vid_master/sixty_two.html’)”>
If you caught our purple eyes post the other day you will no doubt be aware that L’Onglex is going all girly this spring.
Yup, pastel shades are back again and if you need a visual reminder for the look try and picture something along the lines 50’s mom meets Sofia Cappola’s Marie Antoinette and you will  probably be somewhere near !
Obviously, visualising random things is great if you’re good at it, but having thought about it the above description is pretty much useless and it would be far better for everyone  if we could post a link to someone who can show us in a step-by-step-idiot-proof-type-stylee ….
That ’someone in question’ are the always immaculate girls at Pixiwoo.com (http://pixiwoo.blogspot.com/) who have a video explaining how to work the trend and get the look far better than the picture above or our endless ramblings ever could …..

Video: LUKE HERSHESON SALON TIPS

March 15th, 2011
Video: LUKE HERSHESON SALON STYLE
It’s that awkward bit of the beauty calender. Not quite winter, but still not spring.
Thinking we should do something about changing the seasons vis-a-vis L’Onglex’s hair was pretty easy once we’d made the choice but ironing out the details was far harder than we could have imagined.
Thinking we would like something classic but punky, and winter meets spring we finally managed to come across this video by celebrity stylist Luke Hersheson which we think is just the ticket for this time of year.
It’s basically Audrey Hepburn meets street style and we like it for the simple reason that it’s a grungy take on a French pleat but stays smart enough to be worn on a night on the town ….
<strong><a href=”javascript:popUp(’http://vkm2.com/vid_master/sixty_one.html’)”><span style=”color: #654f72;”>Over to you Luke</span></a></strong>

Daniel Craig as we’ve never seen him before

March 8th, 2011
OK … so the walks a bit clunky and the manly frame does bulk the shoulders up but all in all we don’t think Daniel Craig makes for such a bad looking woman.
Obviously it goes without saying that we prefer him with a six pack and those uber tight swimming trunks but we are also impressed at the erstwhile 007’s ability to dress as one of us.
In case your wondering about the why’s and the wheres the video in question (  xxxxxxxx  ) the voice in question is that of Dame Judt Dench and was produced as a viral to highlight International Women’s Day.
Celebrated every year on the 8th of March, International Women’s Day is used as a forum to campaign on a range of gender and equality issues and celebrate the achievements of women all over the world in making the planet a more equal and fair place in which to live.
Since we can’t fault the cause and we can’t fault Mr Craig, all that’s left to do is think of who’ll be in drag to publicise the event  next year …… L’Onglex’s money is firmly on Enda Kenny !

Feeling a little under the weather ?

March 7th, 2011
oh how we love the weekends… a time to lie in….a time to break the diet and a time catch up with the girls. That said, the downside to having spent our weekend being mostly in a state that we’re calling ‘Training for Paddy’s Day’ , L’Onglex is now paying the price and is feeling more than a little peaky.
Ordinarily we might just call a sicky, crawl back under the duvet and claim a 24hr bug but as we kind of spilled the beans on the plans for our  weekend last Friday that option is now unavailable to us.
So, having exhausted our livers, ourselves, our sick-notes and most importantly our skin, we can only turn to the fabulous Lisa Eldridge for a video tutorial on how to perk up pasty skin that’s partied too hard. Hope your Monday has been a bit easier than ours ……

Who loves Adele ?

February 23rd, 2011
ho loves fish face ?
Now that we’re officially over the hump we’ve been looking for a little Saturday night make-up inspiration and after figuring we rather liked the look of Adele at the Brit awards a little hunting online for her look led us to Lauren Luke’s latest celebrity ‘how to’
Thinking will be just perfect for our weekend out Lauren demonstrates how to nail that perfectly smokey bronzed look by some simple blending techniques for the eyes and a highlighting technique which the geordie princess of powder calls ‘fish face’. On reflection this might not sound too pretty, but the end result is nicely contoured cheeks.
Rimmel, Benefit and MAC are all in the mix and as with all things Lauren Luke ( http://www.bylaurenluke.com/default.aspx ), the video is just so easy to follow – we love this look !

Need a look for a night on the town

With the miserable month fast becoming a distant memory L’Onglex is currently saving our pennies for a big night out. Looking forward as we are to ditching the diet, finally paying off the Christmas purchases and letting our hair down we thought we might cast around for something that might work for a night on the tiles.
Enter the ever delightful Pixiwoo ( http://pixiwoo.blogspot.com/ ) who has come as the saviour to our particular dancing dilemma with a sharp but smokey, soft but glamourous look which will do us just fine. As a final note on the subject the first time we tried this the fake lashes went astray and when we added a touch of Mac C3 to a big foundation brush what we got in return could only be described as a splodge.
It is perfect, but we’ll be putting a bit more practice into this one before we head out the door.

Chanel has deceived us …..

January 30th, 2011
Chanel has deceived us …..
Beware fans of L’Onglex !
Having brought you the Japanese robot that washes your hair, clothes you can make yourself from spray foam and a product which lets you get Cheryl Coles hair straight out of a tin, we can’t help but mention our latest find …. Chanel The Movie.
As we are suckers for anything Chanel related we had to take a peek when we heard the word that Chanel had produced an animated movie featuring a hit-parade of every single thing we ever wanted to own for ourselves but couldn’t actually afford.
Why the video was commissioned we are not so sure, but having watched the sequence a couple of times we are fast coming to the conclusion that this is not the uber-stylish video animation it purports to be. Merely a sophisticated ploy at making school age infants fall in love with the brand so that they have no choice but to spend all their pocket money collecting Chanel make-up in a Pokemon stylee.
Quite why the worlds most sophisticated luxury brand has chosen to go all Disney on our asses I cannot say, but what we are convinced of is that if word gets round TOY STORY will be no more and every 6 year old girl will be pestering her mother to buy her the latest must have Chanel Robot …… you have been warned…..

L’Onglex Poll: The worst ads in living memory

January 26th, 2011
While we love the tellybox and take more then a little enjoyment from oogling the latest selection of goodies it just so happens that from time to time there is the occassional one that really sticks in our throat. Having heard the news that a recent survey voted the Go Compare ad as the worst in living memory it did make us wonder whether this was really true.
With nothing better to do today than read polls and trawl YouTube we’ve taken the liberty of picking what we think are the worst adverts ever made and would like you give us your opinion on the subject. The five contenders are linked below and as always, once you’ve done the vote feel free to leave a comment here and put your name in the hat for a L’Onglex goodie bag. Be warned though, they’re crap but catchy !
‘Poo at Pauls”

Cherry and Chocolate make-up look

January 24th, 2011
This month on L’Onglex it seems the calorie, or in our case lack of it, is king !
Like probably nearly everyone else we are rather predictably trying to mitigate some of the worst of our excesses from the festive season and this has made for pretty miserable lunchtimes in these parts.
For people who fill the gossip of our working day with questions relating to beauty or cake the month of January is a tough one for us and anything that get us through the month is more than welcome.
With anything resembling talk of gâteau being strictly off menu and likely to send us into a spiral of misery we managed to find the following video which allows us to drool without getting too grumpy …. it’s Lisa Eldridge // http://www.lisaeldridge.com/// with a Chocolate and Berry themed make-up look.
