Add a touch of mac to a touch of primer, a healthy dose of yellow shadow to a rather nice smudged charcoal and what do you get ?
In L’Onglex’s case a mess. But if you’re the magnificent Pixiwoo and you happen to be rather a deft hand at all things make-up then the end result is some fabulous 80’s inspired eye colouring.
Not only is it brilliantly reminiscent of Grace Jones in her prime but the more we dig around for this seasons on trend eye shades the more yellow seems to be mentioned. Having missed it completely in the first instance we’re now thinking of popping out to do some serious scouring for similar shades.
Finally, although we’ve been posting loads of videos of late we’ve never really gotten round to featuring anything from the fantastic folks at Pixiwoo http://pixiwoo.blogspot.com/. Having now watched this a couple of times we love the look and will be posting a lot more on the subject.

Having been dolled to the nines of late L’Onglex has been contemplating something a little more relaxed by way of styling.
Enter Luke Hersheson with a fabulous video made for ELLEUK (http://www.elleuk.com/) that we think is a perfect for post season hair.
Having watched this and done the twist thing with the curlers we can definitely say we love the effect, but whether we’ll be wearing this with anything other than our Onesies remains to be seen.
Who wants wavy hair .. we do !
Having been dolled to the nines of late L’Onglex has been contemplating something a little more relaxed by way of styling. Something natural, something demure and something we can twist about and put in our mouths.
After some trawling we would like to recommend Luke Hersheson with a fabulous video made for ELLEUK that we think is a perfect for post party season hair.
Having watched this and done the twist thing with the curlers we can definitely say we love the effect, but whether we’ll be wearing this with anything other than our Onesies remains to be seen.
We found a new Lisa Eldridge video which not only manages to be a perfect look for the party season but also has some rather nice tips on how we can get metallics to shine like they should, stay where they are put and not drift everywhere after a few drinks.
As L’Onglex has always found shiny glittery sparkly beauty a bit difficult we have to say we’re loving this latest video. As if the ever brilliant Lisa Eldridge weren’t providing us with enough pointers there are also a few tips at the end of the video on the subject of how to make a statement with metallic make-up without overdoing the whole thing … happy new year one and all !

Not sure if we should say this but we’re going to anyway. Just this afternoon L’Onglex got wind that Lisa Eldridges new Christmas looks video was now online.
Thinking we were getting a taste of the demur, refined and always elegant make-up styling that has become her hallmark we were shocked to discover this one contains green(ish) glitter, some cappuccino eye colouring and a dose of pink lip gloss applied over an orange lipstick …. uggghhh … thought we.
Having now watched the video from the comfort of bed and a hot water bottle we can absolutely, positively say the idea sounds terrible but the end result is divine.
Apart from loving the nail colour we are also wondering if the amazing Lisa Eldridge will ever do a look that isn’t perfect ?

Seems the new ad for Heat by Beyonce is causing something of a stir for those over in the UK. Recently deemed too “sexually provocative” and “unsuitable for young children” by the Advertising Standards Agency they’ve banned the ad being broadcast before 7:30pm.
L’Onglex has been jabbering about this all morning and in the end we decided to put the subject to a vote. Aside from the fact that banning the advert will make every ten year old want to watch it on YouTube we figure we’d let you decide.
So, vote in the box, leave a comment here and as always we’ll pick one name out of the hat for a goodie bag … oh, and if you haven’t seen the video here’s the link.

The other day it occurred to L’Onglex that whilst we’ve plenty to say about the various degrees of success we may have when it comes putting the stuff on we’ve so far got very little to say on the subject of taking it off.
As of the time of writing L’Onglex has developed a trusted technique for taking off the slap I am sure many of you will be familiar with. The simple method is divided into two stages and goes something like this …
Stage 1 – Rub face with the first thing that comes to hand
Stage 2 – Anything not rubbed in stage 1 can be left the pillowcases
Whilst I thought this approach had worked out pretty well so far trying to get rid of my Halloween face has made think their may be better apparently this is not the best technique and whilst I’m loathe to change my ways the ever brilliant Lisa Eldridge has a video guide which has made me see the error of my ways ….

We cam across this by chance. In fact, it was quite by chance. Having recently watched an old black and white movie starring the very glamorous Veronica Lake L’Onglex did a google search for none other than the above screen temptress.
Not only did we spend hours reading up on our newly discovered film heroine but low and behold we came across the PIXIWOO beauty blog (http://pixiwoo.blogspot.com/) showing us how we could get a bit of vintage Hollywood styling for ourselves.
Basically the video link below shows you all you need to know when it comes to cloning the above look of film noir sophistication with nothing more than some heated rollers and the skillful application of an eyelash curler and not only are we super pleased with the end result but we also rather like the fact that we discovered a fantastic new beauty blog !

If you are a gal of a certain age you will no doubt remember the Timotei adverts. First spotted during the nineties the brand was once the epitome of natural hair styling and it’s success was in no small part down to it’s now famous advertising.
Indeed, if you were around at the time those iconic adverts of a blonde with waist length hair rinsing her locks in the clear waters of a Swedish lake whilst being watched from a distance by a mysterious white shirted suitor became the benchmark for how beauty campaigns in the eighties were measured.
Having fallen out of favour with the buying public in the nineties we assumed the Timotei brand had died a slow death until news reached the L’Onglex beauty desk this very morning that a new campaign based on the original adverts has been commissioned to revive their flagging shampoo fortunes.
Whether the stalker in the white shirt will be part of the new campaign is not yet known but since were all for retro adverts we thought we’d at the very least put you up a link of the old campaigns in all their natural glory !

Its been some time since we caught up with the comings and goings of Amy Dillon Makeupandbeauty.ie ( http://makeupandbeauty.ie )so we thought we’d pop in her latest posting on this Autumns nail trends.
Nudes, taupe shades and a rather nifty line in purples seem to be on everyones nails this season and although it’s probably none of our business L’Onglex is rather dismayed at the fact that Amy seems to able to get hold of Catrice’s Almost Black and we can’t get any for love nor money !
